ECA Group UGV Cobra presented at Ministry of Defence during European Heritage Days in Paris
Every September, European Heritage Days take place during one weekend. It is the opportunity to visit well-known, popular and historical monuments, usually closed to the public or rarely visited. Thus, people can discover governmental buildings, such as the Ministery of Defence.
The Ministry of Defence is traditionally located in the Hotel of Brienne. Many historical figures lived or worked there, such as Lucien Bonaparte, Georges Clémenceau and Charles de Gaulle. During the European Heritage Days, visitors could learn more about the hotel and the way the Ministry works today. At the end of the visit, in the private garden military equipment was presented.
ECA Group's mini Unmanned Ground Vehicle - UGV, the COBRA MK2, was in demonstration, piloted by a military engineer . The COBRA MK2 is designed to perform multiple military operations, in particular Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance - ISR, counter-IED - Improvised Explosive Device, and also Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear - CBRN defence.
The Direction Générale de l’Armement, the French governement defense procurement agency, decided to purchase 3 ground robots COBRA MK2 for each engineering regiment. The COBRA MK2 is now combat proven since it was used in many theatres of operations such as Afghanistan. As a result, the Military Engineering was proud to present this very useful and resistant UGV.
