UDS | 3 - 5 March 2020 | ECA Group solutions for naval mine warfare
ECA Group solutions to be presented at Underwater Defence & Security 2020
Robotics and integrated systems
ECA Group designs and manufactures a wide range of innovative and comprehensive technological solutions to face current and future naval challenges. ECA Group constantly innovates to improve the capabilities and performance of its robotic systems, in order to support the Naval Forces and maritime operators to carry out ever more complex missions in hostile or restrictive environments.
ECA Group offers a whole range of naval drones and systems that are optimized to successfully perform an operation at sea in various activities such as naval mine warfare, counter-piracy, harbour or asset protection.
UMISTM – MCM turnkey solution
For underwater Mine counter measures, ECA Group is an expert of the development of mission driven interoperable systems capable of tackling the most demanding Mine Warfare missions.
Developed by ECA Group, UMISTM is the new generation Mine Counter Measure (MCM) unmanned system developed by ECA Group. UMIS is able to carry out any Underwater Mine Counter Measures (MCM) mission, using a collaborative system of surface and underwater robots. Delivering the UMIS system to the first customers in 2016, ECA Group’s solution made conventional mine hunters obsolete. It has proven to be faster in fulfilling operations, more efficient, cost-effective and safe, as the crew is kept away from minefield.
Comprehensive and modular, UMISTM includes a wide range of interoperable unmanned vehicles such as USVs, UUVs (AUVs, ROV, MIDS ROVs), towed sonars, UAVs, etc. All of these unmanned systems integrate a C2 MCM as a comprehensive software suite UMISOFTTM allowing easy and complete management of the entire unmanned mission: preparation, run and supervision, data processing and analysis. UMISOFTTM manages as well parallel drones missions, robot-from/on-robot deployment (such as USV deploying and retrieving a UUV) and all automatic launch and recovery systems (LARS from USVs). UMISOFTTM can be integrated into the combat mission system (CMT) of the vessel (MCMV).
It is the ideal solution for Navies and Homeland Protection operators engaged in battlefields and in survey or intervention missions at sea.
Naval Robotic solutions (AUVs / USVs / ROVs)
ECA Group aims at developing systems of drones and to do so, has engaged in strong R&D efforts to offer versatile solutions for various missions at sea.
By developing systems able to inter-communicate and work together in order to reduce human exposure to threats, ECA Group has been developing several types of surface and underwater unmanned robots can that act both in swarms or independenty.
ECA Group's wide range of naval robotic systems includes:
ECA Group drone systems can perform a wide range of operations:
- Coastal / harbor protection: Dedicated to the security of coastal and port infrastructures, ECA Group can deploy a fleet of different surface and underwater robots wearing sensors to detect, prevent or for response in order to fight against terrorism, malicious or activism acts.
- Underwater Mine warfare: From a surface vessel, AUVs and ROVs are launched: SEASCAN for Mine identification and the K-STER mine disposal system for neutralization. The system can be used collaboratively with the embedded Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) of ECA Group's A9-M AUV or A18-M AUV, to reduce the duration of the MCM Missions.
