ECA GROUP has delivered a ROV system to the Institute of Oceanography at National Taiwan University (IONTU) to conduct research projects in marine sciences.
To equip their newly launched research vessel, the New Ocean Researcher 1with an extended capability to perform cutting edge oceanographic surveys in Taiwan, the IONTU was looking for a 1000m water depth rated ROV that is both compact and powerful.
Established in 1968, the IONTU is the most prestigious marine institute in Taiwan and is dedicated to interdisciplinary research and education in marine sciences. Recently, the research groups have been conducting several projects related to biodiversity exploration and conservation in the deep sea.
Taiwan’s newest and largest ocean research vessel, the 2,155-ton R/V New Ocean Researcher 1 (operated by IO NTU)
ECA GROUP’s H800 ROV has been chosen thanks to its excellent maneuverability and viewing performances, compactness as well as easy integration of sensors. Its powerful lighting and HD viewing combined with the stability offered by its powerful thrusters allow an optimum video and image quality even in dark and shallow waters, ideal for underwater survey applications. ECA GROUP' expertise in integrating any payload on the market onto its ROVs allowed to customize the system to answer the specific needs of the customer with regards to sensors and additional payloads.
Specifically for marine research applications, the H800 ROV system delivered has been equipped upon request with:
