A major Chinese Maintenance and Repair Overhaul (MRO) Centre has chosen ECA GROUP’s testing tool solution for aircraft
ECA GROUP is proud to announce that a major Chinese Maintenance and Repair Overhaul (MRO) Centre has selected ECA GROUP’s testing tool solution. ECA GROUP’s TC50-eTool helps troubleshooting faulty electrical wires in a fast and efficient way.
To understand the tool’s advantage, let us have a look at how the electrical wiring interconnection system (EWIS) operates in an aircraft.
An aircraft’s wiring works – in simple terms - like a human nervous system: It transfers signals and information that are critical for the safe operation of an airplane. It is therefore essential for any Maintenance and Repair Overhaul (MRO) to take care of the aircraft’s “nerves”.
That is not an easy task, considering that an Airbus A350 has 84000 wires totalling 300km of cables. An Airbus A380 has 100 000 wires for a total length of 550km. This is where ECA GROUP’s TC50-eTool can assist MROs with a compact kit dedicated to troubleshooting the electrical wiring interconnection system (EWIS).
The TC50-eTool is an all-in-one portable kit that can perform a whole range of electric tests with all tools in one compact suitcase. During aircraft maintenance operations but even more in Aircraft-on-ground (AOG) situations, the TC50-e Tool suitcase allows technicians to carry out quicker diagnostics and to undertake preventive and corrective maintenance tasks – in a user-friendly way via a tablet or smartphone.
For a better understanding, one of the most tedious tasks for technicians is to locate the electrical fault on a complex harness. Previously, operators had to divide a faulty cable into several parts and analyse each segment. Unable to detect the fault, they had to continue breaking down the cable into smaller and smaller sections. ECA GROUP’s TC50-tool resolves this issue fast and efficiently: The electrical “wire fault localization” allows finding a problem on a cable with an accuracy of up to 0, 1 %.
In addition to the “wire fault localization”, a dozen of other tools serve daily electrical troubleshooting with no risk of cable alteration. To name a few tools: voltage-, current- and resistance measurements, diode testing, insulation tests and thermal imaging. All of these operations are vital to reduce aircraft downtime, and lead to better aircraft availability.
The TC50 e-Tool addresses all types of wiring system, used in different sectors like transportation (sea, ground and air), spatial, Oil & Gas, as well as manufacturing industries.
ECA GROUP thanks its Chinese customer for their confidence into the TC50-eTool that will help them assure better and safe electrical operations.
